The University Catholic Center is excited to welcome FOCUS to the UCC and the UT-Austin campus this year. FOCUS is a national program that expands campus ministry beyond the walls of the UCC. FOCUS Missionaries who are recent graduates from universities across the country work full-time to meet students where they are—their dorms, practice field, the Union.
By reaching out to students, FOCUS aims to bring students closer to Jesus Christ.
At The University of Texas at Austin, we are starting strong in Fall 2011 with a dozen Bible studies, 5 student leaders and over 100 students already involved in some way. Our goal is to double these numbers by the conclusion of the 2011-2012 academic year. Interested in joining a Bible study? Contact FOCUS today!
From the FOCUS website:
Rooted in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, FOCUS was born out of a passion and zeal to share how a relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith can transform the world. Beginning with our nation’s future leaders, FOCUS sends teams of young, trained missionaries to the college campus in order to reach students with the gospel. In partnership with the university parish and/or Newman Center (e.g. the UCC), FOCUS missionaries host large group outreach events, weekly Bible studies and offer one-on-one mentoring with student leaders.
We welcome young adults from all walks of life and religious backgrounds to our events. Through the personal investment and dedication of our missionaries, FOCUS helps to build a joyful, Christ-centered community and support network on each campus where we have a presence. Students are encouraged to join the missionaries at daily Mass and in prayer, the most vital commitment our missionaries make each day.
