After a delightful fall semester learning about the Revised Roman Missal with Fr. Ed Koharchik and about Scripture with Tom Perna, we begin the spring semester with all-new topics for religious education and spiritual growth.

Come hear Sr. Clare Underbrink, IWBS, on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Holy Spirit Chapel. Sr. Clare is a member of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament (IWBS). She holds advanced degrees in French and history and currently works as a theology teacher at St. Joseph High School in Victoria, Texas. Sr. Clare will speak on the Gospel call each of us has to be mystics and prophets in the world.

Stay tuned for a talk on St. Thomas Aquinas by Professor Azzura Crispino of Austin Community College in March and on Harry Potter by Dr. Ed Shirley of St. Edward’s University in April.

Deacon Rene Constanza, CSP

Deacon Rene Constanza, CSP, a transitional deacon in his final year of formation before being ordained to the priesthood, God willing, late Spring of 2012, will be at the University Catholic Center serving and preaching at all the Masses on Sunday, January 29th.

Each year, the University Catholic Center invites a Paulist from another parish or campus ministry served by the Paulists to share more about what the Paulist Fathers are doing beyond what we see every day on the 40 Acres. Typically, this occurs in late January, near the Paulist’s feast day of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle on January 25th.

Originally from Belize, Deacon Rene loves spicy food so let him know your favorite Mexican or Thai restaurant near campus with something on the menu with a real kick.

Please help us welcome him and show him our support as he quickly approaches his ordination to the priesthood.

The Center’s doors will now be locked at 5 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.

Any students attending an organizational meeting after 5 p.m. will need to coordinate with their student leaders to gain access to the building after hours. Arrangements will be made to grant appropriate access for community-wide evening events (such as last night’s Advent Penance Service).

The staff also wishes to remind students present in the building after 5 p.m. that they should not open the door for anyone seeking admittance that they do not recognize.

We appreciate your observance of the new policy and your efforts towards keeping our UCC community safe.
