Fr. Andrew was born in Saigon, Vietnam and he is the youngest of ten children. In 1985, at the age of twelve, without his family, he escaped from Vietnam and
became a refugee. He got to a Thailand refugee camp in a small fishing boat with other people. May 1987 he got sponsored by one of His sisters to resettle in
England and there he learned English and continued with school. In 1993, his mom and other members of his family came to the United States under a special refugee asylum. After their relocation, he decided to reunite with
them in California. He then moved to Austin in 2005 to continue with his
education. In this new and unfamiliar environment, he sought and found support in the Vietnamese Catholic Church community, in particular the Christian Life Community fellowship, which seeks to practice Ignatian spirituality. There, he felt called and responded to the vocation of the priesthood. He was accepted by the Diocese of Austin, and in 2011 joined St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston for formation. Fr. Andrew’s priestly ordination was in 2018 and he got his first assignment at St. Thomas More for a year. He also served 2 years at St. Joseph in Bryan, and 2 more years at St. Mary’s Catholic Center, Texas A&M. He loves to serve the Lord in ministry, especially campus ministry, with young people in their faith journeys. In July of 2023, his new assignment was here at the University Catholic Center, UT Austin. He is looking forward to serve and walk with students and those who come to him for direction, or just for a talk.
