Undone Women's Ministry | emily.strasser@focus.org
Hello! My name is Mae Strasser and I am one of the FOCUS missionaries here at UT-Austin. Long story short, I am a beloved daughter of God who has received immense healing in overcoming wounds from an addiction to pornography. This healing is all due to the redemption of the Cross and the loving gaze of the Father. In addition to that, I have answered a call from God to start a group for women pursuing freedom and healing called “Undone”! Undone is a confidential group which focuses on providing community and support for women who struggle with serious habitual sins such as pornography, masturbation, drunkenness, drug abuse, self-harm, eating disorders, and unchastity in relationships. The group meets weekly on UT’s campus. If you are interested, feel free to reach out to me.
Men's Group | brrob@utcatholic.org
I'm Brother Rob Clark, one of the Campus Ministers at the Catholic Center. Most of my day is spent in Spiritual Direction with our student community. When I first started this ministry, I was struck with how many men were struggling to live a life of chastity. Many spoke for the first time about their struggle with sexual sins. I wondered if having a group of men with a similar struggle would be helpful. I asked and had 7 men participate in our first group. Since then, we've had a least one group meet every semester. It's a time of honest sharing, prayer, accountability support, and growing as brothers in Christ who desire to live a chase life. This is a confidential group and if you think you might have something to give and receive, let's talk.
Freedom Project Men's Ministry | benbatalla@gmail.com
My name is Ben Batalla and I am the accompanist for the UCC choir at UT-Austin. I am also newly married to my beautiful wife, Claire, who is one of the FOCUS missionaries at the UCC. I lead a men’s group called The Freedom Project, which is a confidential group for men who desire accountability and support in their recovery from pornography, masturbation, and unchastity. The group meets weekly on campus. In our weekly meetings we pray together, learn about the impact of sexual sin in our lives and in our relationships, and discuss the tools that are necessary in order to find healing and freedom in Christ. I know that habitual sins can cause men to feel isolated, unworthy, and unwanted, but in my own recovery, I have found immense healing and restoration through my brothers in Christ who have walked with me in the journey towards freedom. In my darkest moments, my brothers and accountability partners reminded me of my goodness, the power within me through Christ to overcome sin, and the vision of what freedom actually feels like. Without my community, I would not be where I am today in my vocation to love my wife with purity and integrity. The journey can seem long and difficult, but I am committed to walking with you. Thank you for responding to Christ’s invitation to become fully alive! If you are interested in joining the group, feel free to message me.
