Men's Group | brrob@utcatholic.org
I'm Brother Rob Clark, one of the Campus Ministers at the Catholic Center. Most of my day is spent in Spiritual Direction with our student community. When I first started this ministry, I was struck with how many men were struggling to live a life of chastity. Many spoke for the first time about their struggle with sexual sins. I wondered if having a group of men with a similar struggle would be helpful. I asked and had 7 men participate in our first group. Since then, we've had a least one group meet every semester. It's a time of honest sharing, prayer, accountability support, and growing as brothers in Christ who desire to live a chase life. This is a confidential group and if you think you might have something to give and receive, let's talk.
Freedom Project Women’s Ministry | Liliana.ramos@focus.org
Hello! My name is Liliana Ramos and I am a first year FOCUS missionary at UT-Austin. In my time in college, I began to seek true freedom from my own struggles and desired to see myself with the same eyes that God sees me. I have experienced immense healing and overcome many wounds. Thus, the Lord has called me to lead the women’s Freedom Project. The Freedom Project aims to help students experience greater conversion by helping them overcome struggles with pornography, masturbation, mental health, body image and addiction through one-on-one mentorship and support groups. This group is confidential and will meet weekly. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in joining the group or have any questions.
Freedom Project Men's Ministry | benjamin.taylor@focus.org
My name is Ben Taylor, and I am a first year FOCUS missionary here at UT-Austin and I am leading the freedom project! The Freedom Project is a confidential accountability group for men who desire to find freedom in their struggle with pornography, masturbation, lust, and other forms of unchastity. We meet once per week, where we spend time praying together, discussing/learning how we can find freedom and healing in Christ, and figuring out the tools we can use to help us in the process. I know it is not easy being vulnerable in this way to anyone, especially since the effects of these sins and wounds convince us of the need to isolate ourselves from others. However, in my own journey, the greatest asset in helping me recognize my own worth and find healing in Christ has been a community of brothers. The support we gave each other in our pursuit freedom in Christ allowed myself and my fellow brothers to gain for the first time true freedom and healing from our sins. Without them, I would not be the man I am today, as they were a constant voice of reason even when things seemed hopeless. It is this connection with other men fighting for the same freedom that allowed me to find the strength in me through Christ to keep going even when I thought it useless. I know it may seem difficult or even impossible to start this path, but I promise to walk with in it. If you are interested in joining, please reach out. Thank you and God bless!
